In Search for THE Bag….

You know how even when you have a lot of bags, you still search for the right bag? 

I love a good bag, who doesn’t, am I right? At the last count I had about 20 different bags, many I’ve had for years and can’t give up. But they are not bags designed for my life, as it is today.

I have kids and therefore I am the carrier stuff.  A lot of stuff. Everywhere we go I carry their gear:  jumpers, water bottles, rugby boots, mouth guards, snacks, towels, togs, AFL paraphernalia, balls, books, basketball kit, iPads, phones, socks… it’s a vibe.

Because of all this gear I have to carry, my many lovely bags are totally and useless. They are too small, too nice, too smart, too flimsy, with not enough pockets or no pockets at all and just totally impractical for a multi tasking gal, like me.

Take a guess at how many phones, keys and iPads I have drowned because one of the kids bloody water bottle leaked, again. There are two many memories of me discovering puddles at the bottom of my bag and having to dry out my phone or car key in rice. 

Bags can be painful, because most of them are not designed for me:

• A mum
• Head of the cheer squad
• Jack of all trades
• Sherper
• Dog walker
• The bringer of stuff
• Head of beach base camp
• Team organiser

Like most mums I know, this gal has a lot to do and I need to run a tight and efficient ship.

I need a big bag that is fit for purpose, has places for all the bits and pieces I carry. I’d like pockets for water bottles, a place for my phone, a pocket for suncream, a home for my reading glasses, somewhere on the outside to put stuff for a quick grab and big enough inside that it fits all the stuff I need AND I want it to be self standing so I can see all of my stuff! It also has to look nice.

My big dream bag has to be large, versatile, functional, plenty of pockets, water-resistant (just in case) It has to be reliable and durable and self-standing. Honestly, it’s so useful to be able to see everything inside, such a timesaver.

So, that’s the bag I’ve been searching for. And that’s the oversized waxed canvas tote bag we’ve now created. 

So, the problem with bags is solved, now onto the problem with kids…
